Climate change, red hair and Scotland

Article: Climate change could make red hair a thing of the past if Scotland gets sunnier

Ludicrous, silly, ignorant; a trifecta of stupidity.

The author makes the argument that the red hair trait is adaptive because fair skin helps vitamin D to be made. It won't be necessary if Scotland gets more sun due climate change.

Maybe after several thousand years of increased sunniness due to climate change. Maybe if everyone had to live outside for most of their lives like their farming/herding ancestors did. Maybe if no one takes vitamin D supplements.  Maybe, suddenly, red haired women will no longer be considered attractive.

And I can only hope this is a misquote:
“If it was to get less cloudy and there was more sun, there would be fewer people carrying the gene.”
What would cause that? Wishful thinking?
